Metric Sizes - Standard Duty Coiled Spring Pins (ISO 8750, ASME B18.8.3M)
(487)The Coiled Spring Pin was invented by SPIROL in 1948. SPIROL offers Coiled Pins in three duties, light, standard and heavy, to provide a variety of combinations of strength, flexibility and diameter to accommodate different host materials and applications. Standard duty (sometimes called “medium” duty) Coiled Spring Pins are generally recommended for use in nonferrous and mild steel assemblies and provide the optimum combination of strength and flexibility in these materials. Standard duty Coiled Pins are also preferred in hardened components when there is enough space to accommodate the larger diameter to withstand the applied force because of their ability to absorb shock and vibration.
SPIROL’s standard duty metric Coiled Spring Pins conform to ISO 8750 and ASME B18.8.3M. Ranging in diameter from 0.8mm up to 20mm, these standard duty Coiled Pins are offered in high carbon steel, 6150 alloy steel, 302/304 nickel (austenitic) stainless steel and 420 chrome (martensitic) stainless steel.
In addition to being able to purchase SPIROL’s standard Coiled Spring Pins online, you are also able to view or download 2D Sales Drawings and 3D models of all Coiled Pins. Simply select the part you want and scroll to the bottom of the page to download the drawing in the required format.
Different quantities, custom sizes, special materials and finishes can be requested by contacting SPIROL directly at info@spirol.com, calling any one of our global offices or by requesting a quote through the online configurator.
Coiled-Spring-Pin--Standard-Duty.jpgMetric Sizes - Heavy Duty Coiled Spring Pins (ISO 8748, ASME B18.8.3M)
(504)SPIROL’s heavy duty metric Coiled Spring Pins range in diameter from 1.5mm up to 12mm, and are available in larger diameters up to 20mm by request. Standard materials are high carbon steel, 302/304 nickel (austenitic) stainless steel and 420 chrome (martensitic) stainless steel. Diameters larger than 12mm are available in 6150 alloy steel. SPIROL’s heavy duty metric Coiled Spring Pins conform to both ISO 8748 and ASME B18.8.3M.
Coiled Spring Pins are available in light duty, standard duty and heavy duty to match the required strength and flexibility for each application. A pin too strong for the applied load will not flex and may damage the hole. A pin that is too flexible may fatigue prematurely within the assembly. The Coiled Pin with the optimal balance of strength, flexibility and diameter will result in the prolonged useful life of the assembly. Generally, heavy duty Coiled Spring Pins are recommended for use in hardened materials where design limitations restrict the use of a larger diameter standard duty Coiled Pin.
In addition to being able to request a quote or purchase heavy duty Coiled Spring Pins, you may also download 2D Sales Drawings and 3D models of all Coiled Pins through this website. Simply select the Coiled Pin that you require, and then download the drawing from a choice of 40 different file types.
If you require different quantities, custom sizes, special materials and finishes, please contact SPIROL directly at info@spirol.com, call any one of our global offices or request your requirements through the online configurator.
Coiled-Spring-Pin--Heavy-Duty.jpgMetric Sizes - Light Duty Coiled Spring Pins (ISO 8751, ASME B18.8.3M)
(229)The Coiled Spring Pin was invented by SPIROL in 1948. SPIROL offers Coiled Pins in three duties, light, standard and heavy, to provide a variety of combinations of strength, flexibility and diameter to accommodate different host materials and applications. A pin too strong for the applied force may not flex and may cause damage to the hole. A pin too flexible in the assembly may prematurely fatigue. The goal is to optimize the combination of strength, flexibility and diameter of the Coiled Pin to maximize the useful life of the assembly. Light duty Coiled Spring Pins are recommended for use in soft or brittle materials, or where the hole is located close to the edge of an assembly. Light duty Coiled Pins are also a great choice for assemblies not subjected to high forces as installation will be easier due to their lower insertion forces.
SPIROL’s light duty metric Coiled Springs are available in diameters ranging from 1.5mm up to 6mm as a standard, and are available to order in Ø8mm. Light duty Coiled Pins are manufactured from high carbon steel, 302/304 nickel (austenitic) stainless steel and 420 chrome (martensitic) stainless steel and conform to both ISO 8751 and ASME B18.8.3M.
In addition to being able to purchase light duty metric Coiled Spring Pins online, you may also download 2D Sales Drawings and 3D models of all Coiled Pins by simply selecting the Coiled Pin that you require, and downloading the drawing in the desired file type.
SPIROL’s standard offering of Coiled Spring Pins can be purchased through eCommerce in standard box quantities. Should you require a different quantity, custom size, special material or finish, please feel free to contact us directly by emailing us at info@spirol.com, calling us at the nearest SPIROL location or submitting your request for quote through the configurator.
Coiled-Spring-Pin--Light-Duty.jpgInch Sizes - Standard Duty Coiled Spring Pins (ASME B18.8.2)
(386)SPIROL invented the Coiled Spring Pin in 1948. Coiled Spring Pins are available in three duties to enable the designer to select the right combination of strength, flexibility and diameter to suit different host materials and application requirements. Standard duty Coiled Spring Pins, sometimes referred to as “medium duty”, provide the optimum combination of strength and flexibility in nonferrous and mild steel assemblies. Standard duty Coiled Pins are also recommended in hardened components because of their shock absorbing abilities.
SPIROL offers inch (imperial) standard duty Coiled Spring Pins in diameters ranging from .031” (1/32) up to .750” (3/4). Standard materials include high carbon steel, 302/304 austenitic (nickel) stainless steel, and 420 martensitic (chrome) stainless steel; as well as 6150 alloy steel for diameters .625” (5/8) and larger. Standard duty inch Coiled Pins conform to ASME B18.8.2.
In addition to being able to purchase standard duty Coiled Spring Pins, you are also able to download 2D Sales Drawings and 3D models of all Coiled Pins through our website. Just select the Coiled Pin that you require, and then download the drawing from a choice of 40 different file types.

Coiled-Spring-Pin--Standard-Duty.jpgInch Sizes - Heavy Duty Coiled Spring Pins (ASME B18.8.2)
(391)SPIROL offers Coiled Spring Pins in three different duties, light duty, standard duty and heavy duty, to match the required strength and flexibility for each application. A pin too robust for the applied force will not flex and can cause damage to the hole. A pin too flexible could prematurely fatigue in the application. The Coiled Pin with the optimal combination of strength, flexibility and diameter will result in the prolonged useful life of an assembly. Heavy duty Coiled Spring Pins are generally recommended for use in hardened materials where space or other design limitations prohibit the use of a larger diameter standard duty Coiled Pin
SPIROL’s heavy duty inch (imperial) Coiled Spring Pins conform to ASME B18.8.2 and are available in standard diameters ranging from .062” (1/16) up to .500” (1/2). Standard materials include high carbon steel, 302/304 austenitic (nickel) stainless steel and 420 martensitic (chrome) stainless steel. Larger diameters of .625” (5/8) and .750” (3/4) are available upon request in 6150 alloy steel.
In addition to being able to purchase heavy duty Coiled Spring Pins online, you are also able to view or download 2D Sales Drawings and 3D models of all Coiled Pins simply by selecting the Coiled Pin that you require, and then downloading the drawing in the desired file type.
